We understand for some kids this will be their first time learning dance, so trialling different dance programs can help narrow down your child’s dance path. Our experienced and supportive dance instructors are dedicated to helping you find the ideal dance style for your child.
Whether they are interested in hip hop classes, kids ballet programs, tap dancing, singing, or something completely different, our teachers will collaborate with you to identify the style that best aligns with your child's interests and abilities.
What elements of jazz are taught in Ready Set Dance programs?
Our kids dance classes are a combined dance program. During kids classes, they will be introduced to key elements of some new and exciting dance styles including contemporary jazz and tap.
Contemporary jazz dance is a captivating style that blends elements of jazz and modern dance, resulting in a unique and dynamic form of expression. This style is characterised by step kicks, leaps and prep turns. With its strong emphasis on improvisation, contemporary jazz allows dancers to showcase their individuality and creativity, making each performance a personal expression of dance.

In addition to jazz, Ready Set Dance programs include a mixed variety of dance styles, including hip hop which has more elements of street dance, acro which involves stretch and strength, classical ballet which focuses on coordination and flexibility, and tap dancing and singing which can lead to progression into musical theatre. What should my child wear to a jazz dance class?
We recommend dressing your little dancer in Ready Set Dance uniform. The Ready Set Dance uniform for girls includes a leotard dress, tights, and Tap/Jazz shoes, while boys can choose a Ready Set Dance T-shirt paired with shorts and Tap/Jazz shoes. To ensure long hair doesn’t interfere with movement, it should be tied back. Plus, we provide a variety of fun hair accessories for your child to express their unique style!
How are the classes divided by age groups?
Ready Set Dance classes are organised based on the discretion of our official locations and the number of enrolled students. Classes may be split into ages:
- Level 1: kids aged 2-3 years
- Level 2: kids aged 4-5 years
Alternatively, classes can be combined, with instructors customising exercises to meet the unique needs and abilities of each child. Whether age groups are separated or mixed depends on class size.
