What age range are the kids' dance classes suitable for?
Ready Set Dance offers classes suitable for children as young as 2 years old up to 5 years old. Our preschool dance program is an effective and fun way for children to develop a creative outlet, make new friends and learn life skills – all before their first year in school!
Does the Ready Set Dance program offer kids hip hop dance classes for 3 year olds?
In short, yes. Ready Set Dance program doesn’t offer a strictly hip hop dance or street dance class. However, we incorporate energetic and fun hip hop moves into our hour-long lessons. From the first class, we teach foundational hip hop moves and grooves in an age-appropriate and supportive environment for children aged 2 to 5 years old.
Does the Ready Set Dance program offer Jazz dance classes for kids?
Yes, the Ready Set Dance program offers Jazz dance classes for kids as part of our lessons. Our combo classes are designed specifically for teaching children basic rhythms, introducing foundational techniques, and exploring fun choreography in a lively and high-energy class setting. Catering to pre-schoolers, our Jazz classes create a fun atmosphere where young dancers can develop their skills, express themselves creatively, and build confidence in their abilities.

Yes, the Ready Set Dance program offers tap dance classes for kids as part of our one-hour lessons. Our tap dance lessons for kids (as part of the RSD lesson) are specifically tailored to pre-school aged children, providing them with a fun and engaging introduction to tap dancing and the performing arts in general. Led by professional teachers who are trained and certified in working with young dancers, our tap classes incorporate rhythm, coordination, and creativity, allowing children to develop their skills and artistic expression while having a great time in a supportive environment.
What age groups are classes split into?
Based on the discretion of our official locations and the number of students enrolled, Ready Set Dance classes can be split into age groups:
- Level 1: 2-3 years
- Level 2: 4-5 years
They may also be completely combined with the instructor selecting exercises to suit the different needs and abilities of each student.
Whether classes are split into age groups or not depends on the number of students in the class. For example, if you’re a parent looking for a jazz, tap, singing, music and hip hop dance class for 4 year olds, you can sign your little one up for the Ready Set Dance program and they’ll either be in a mixed age group class (ages 2 - 5), or jazz, tap singing music and hip hop dance classes for 4 year olds and five year olds.
What dance style does RSD teach besides hip hop?
In addition to hip hop, RSD dance lessons include a mixed variety of dance styles including jazz/ modern jazz, tap, and singing which can lead to progression into musical theatre (for children who not only love dance, but dramatic performance in general!). Our diverse range of dance styles in each class allows children to explore the wide and magical world of dance and find the perfect style and best dance classes for them.

How do I know which class is the perfect dance class for my child?

Whether they're interested in classical ballet, acro, hip hop, jazz, tap, or musical theatre, through the Ready Set Dance program, our instructors will work with you to find the style that best suits your child's interests and dance abilities.
Do RSD classes include street dance?
While we don’t offer specific hip hop classes for kids, our classes have a partial focus on teaching hip hop and other urban dance styles while incorporating elements of creativity and self-expression. Students will learn musicality, foundational moves, and choreography. The dance skills they learn will help them gain confidence in freestyle techniques in a supportive and inclusive environment. It won’t be long after they join our classes that your loungeroom will become the stage for your own kids hip hop classes as your little ones gain in self esteem and confidence to show you their moves.
How do you encourage creativity in your dance classes?
At Ready Set Dance, we believe in fostering creativity and self-expression in every child. RSD instructors incorporate improvisation, creative movement exercises, and choreography challenges to inspire students to think outside the box and express themselves through dance.
Are your instructors qualified to teach kids dance classes?
Yes, all of our instructors are highly trained and experienced professionals who are passionate about working with children. They undergo rigorous training and certification in the Ready Set Dance method. Our instructors have to maintain this certification annually. These steps are taken in order to ensure our dance teachers provide the highest quality instruction in a safe and supportive dance school environment.
